Advanced Fire/EMS/Hazmat Dispatch

Course Description:

In this immersive two-day course, we’ll explore the vital role dispatchers play in supporting fire and EMS operations. Day one focuses on building a strong foundation: we’ll break down common radio traffic, clarify terminology, and demystify the vehicles, tools, and equipment used by first responders. You’ll also learn how to recognize inter-agency assistance requests and respond appropriately. Special attention will be given to Mayday calls and strategies for enhancing the safety of fire and EMS personnel—similar to protocols used for law enforcement.

Day two brings the classroom to life with hands-on experiences. Students will visit a local fire department, get an up-close look at emergency vehicles and tools, and interact with the crew of a medical helicopter. This practical exposure reinforces what you've learned and provides valuable context for real-world dispatching.

Whether you're new to fire and EMS dispatching or looking to expand your knowledge, this course offers the tools and insight you need to excel.
